Two FIVB Coaches Courses each in Indonesia and Korea, and one each in Colombia, Iran, Belize, Ireland and Honduras gave coaches new opportunities to expand their knowledge in August 2025
Nine FIVB Coaches Courses were staged in August 2025 for Level I and Level II Volleyball and Beach Volleyball. Each course balanced classroom learning with on-court practice, giving coaches the tools to develop their knowledge and share it in their own communities.
Two courses each were held in Indonesia and Korea, while Colombia, Iran, Belize, Ireland and Honduras each hosted one. The full calendar showed the global demand for coaching education and the FIVB’s commitment to supporting the sport’s growth worldwide.
COLOMBIA
In Medellin, Colombia, an FIVB Coaches Course Level II Volleyball was held from 4 to 8 August at InterAntioquia. Instructor Juan Cartagena guided a full class of 45 participants in Spanish, with sessions designed to strengthen advanced technical and tactical knowledge.

The programme combined classroom lessons with on-court practice, giving coaches the chance to apply performance analysis and team management methods in real time. The course also created space for exchange among local coaches, helping them refine strategies that can support development at higher competitive levels.
IRAN
Tehran hosted an FIVB Coaches Course Level II Volleyball at the Azadi Sport Complex from 6 to 10 August. The course was led by instructor Ali PourAroji, who worked with a full group of 45 participants in English, including nine women.

The course focused on advanced methods, covering tactical systems, performance analysis and player management. With a balance of theory and court-based training, it provided coaches with tools to refine their practice and support the development of volleyball at higher competitive levels.
BELIZE
In Belize City, an FIVB Coaches Course Level I Volleyball was organised from 6 to 10 August at the Ned Pitts Olympic House. Instructor Mohammad Yousuf Sadeq guided 25 participants in English, including nine women.
The course gave coaches a foundation in technical teaching and practice organisation, while also encouraging collaboration in both classroom and on-court sessions.

Participants valued the chance to exchange ideas in a supportive environment, with the programme helping to build the skills needed to strengthen grassroots volleyball in the country.
KOREA
Cheonan, Korea, hosted an FIVB Coaches Course Level I Volleyball from 7 to 11 August at Cheonan High School. Instructor Bogdan Tanase guided 35 participants in English, focusing on the fundamentals of coaching through theoretical and practical sessions. The course introduced technical teaching methods and training organisation for beginner and intermediate players, giving participants a stronger base to build their work in schools and clubs.

Collaboration played an important role as coaches designed drills and shared ideas with one another. The practical sessions allowed them to apply what they had studied in theory, creating confidence to adapt activities for their own environments and contribute to the development of grassroots volleyball.
At the same time and in the same venue, Cheonan also staged an FIVB Coaches Course Level II Volleyball. Instructor Francisco Hervas led 35 participants in English, delivering advanced material on systems of play, tactical analysis and player development. The course gave coaches an in-depth look at strategies for higher-level competition and the tools to improve team performance.

Theoretical work was reinforced through practical application, with participants encouraged to test their approaches under the instructor’s guidance. The programme provided an important step forward for those preparing to lead competitive teams, helping them refine their knowledge and strengthen their leadership on and off the court.
IRELAND
Limerick, Ireland, hosted an FIVB Coaches Course Level II Volleyball from 13 to 17 August at the University of Limerick. Instructor Gordon Mayforth guided 30 participants in English, including 11 women. The course built on advanced material, with theoretical and practical sessions that examined tactical systems, performance analysis and team management.

Participants were encouraged to adapt concepts to their own training contexts, with group activities helping them exchange approaches and refine strategies. The university venue provided a setting that supported focused learning and collaboration, giving coaches tools to enhance their work with competitive teams.
INDONESIA
Bogor hosted an FIVB Coaches Course Level I Volleyball from 23 to 27 August at the FIVB Center of Excellence. Instructor Johann Huber guided 26 participants in English, taking them through the fundamentals of coaching. Theoretical and practical sessions introduced methods of technical teaching, session planning and skill progression to support coaches working with developing players.

The course created an environment for participants to exchange ideas and practise new approaches under supervision. Coaches gained confidence in adapting exercises for their own contexts, ensuring the knowledge could be applied to schools and local clubs across Indonesia.
The following week, the same venue staged an FIVB Coaches Course Beach Volleyball from 30 August to 3 September. Huber returned to lead 17 participants in English, focusing on modern coaching methods, athlete development and international competition standards. The smaller group size encouraged close interaction, with participants receiving detailed feedback in both theoretical sessions and work on the sand.

Alongside technical instruction, the programme also promoted regional cooperation, drawing coaches together to share experiences and strengthen professional connections. This emphasis on collaboration is expected to help beach volleyball continue its growth in Indonesia and neighbouring countries.
HONDURAS
San Pedro Sula, Honduras, hosted an FIVB Coaches Course Level I Volleyball from 27 to 31 August at the Escuela Internacional Sampedrana. Instructor Argelio Pascual Hernández Rodríguez led 41 participants in Spanish, including three women. The course was organised with Olympic Solidarity support and introduced the foundations of coaching through theoretical and practical sessions.

The programme gave coaches essential tools to structure training and improve technical instruction for beginner and intermediate players. By encouraging collaboration and hands-on practice, it helped strengthen the capacity of local coaches to guide the next generation of athletes in Honduras.
