All 222 National Federations can now receive one of three types of support within application windows
FIVB President Dr Ary S Graça F° this week launched the Volleyball Empowerment platform where all 222 National Federations (NFs) from all five Continental Confederations can receive support 365 days a year for one of three application-based support types: coach support for the development of national teams, volleyball equipment and a knowledge transfer programme.
The FIVB President said:
“We have listened to the feedback of our NFs over the past few years and have decided to open the application-based types of support for 365 days a year. Each support type will have several application windows throughout the year when all 222 NFs of categories 1-2-3-4 and 5 can submit their applications.”

Application-based support is a key part of Volleyball Empowerment, a revolutionary programme launched by the FIVB President during the FIVB World Congress 2021 with the aim of improving the technical level of national teams worldwide. Volleyball Empowerment also includes targeted high-performance coaching support.
When discussing Volleyball Empowerment, the FIVB President said:
“We truly believe that we must empower and improve the technical level of national teams and athletes of the FIVB NFs to provide them with the skills to play at the highest level. And in the future, participate in major events like World Championships and the Olympic Games, showcasing great performance.
“Through Volleyball Empowerment, we can help national teams and athletes reach their full potential and achieve their goals. This would be a win-win situation for the entire global Volleyball Family. To ensure that all our NFs can benefit from Volleyball Empowerment we have launched two webinars dedicated to targeted and application-based support which provide the NFs with all the key information and informs them of the next steps.”
The FIVB has constantly invested into the development of the sport worldwide. During the 2017-2020 Olympic cycle, a total of 408 projects from 180 NFs and all five Continental Confederations were approved by the FIVB with a total investment of almost 7 million USD.
The approved projects were for the following types of support: 158 Coach Support projects, 213 Volleyball Equipment projects and 37 Coach the Coaches projects. 10,515 balls, 42 floors and 61 net systems were distributed all over the world to support NFs with team development.
