The IOC announced the composition of its Commissions for 2022 with FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° and other members of the Volleyball Family being appointed to important roles.

The FIVB President was re-appointed to the Revenue and Commercial Partnerships Commission, previously known as the Marketing Commission. The Commission provides guidance, perspective and ideas in the area of commercial partnerships which will assist the IOC to continue to generate, enable and grow long-term, sustainable revenue streams for the Olympic Movement.

FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the Commission, having led the FIVB through its landmark partnership with CVC Capital Partners and the launch of Volleyball World, the commercial arm for the sport around the globe.

CAVB President Bouchra Hajij was also re-appointed to the Culture and Olympic Heritage Commission. She will use her in-depth knowledge of culture to help the IOC in promoting the Olympic ideals as widely as possible.

In addition, former volleyball player, Olympic silver medallist (Los Angeles 1984) and IOC Member Bernard Rajzman was appointed to the Olympic Programme Commission alongside fellow volleyball Olympian Yuko Arakida who won gold at Montreal 1976. Arakida and Rajzman will work closely with their colleagues on the Commission to analyse the programme of sports for the Olympic Games.

Meanwhile, two-time Olympic gold medallist (Atlanta 1996 and Sydney 2000) and Athens 2004 bronze medallist, Yumilka Ruiz Luaces, was appointed to the newly formed Olympism 365 Commission. The Commission is aimed at advising the IOC on enhancing its Olympism 365 strategic approach and maximising the positive social impact of sport.

For the first time in history, the IOC President has appointed an equal number of women and men to the IOC Commissions as part of the IOC’s efforts to increase gender balance at its governance level.
