AL-QUWAT MAKE HISTORY WITH UNPRECEDENTED TITLE IN PALESTINE PREMIER LEAGUE

Bangkok, Thailand, November 29, 2022 – Al-Quwat Club were crowned champions of the “Jawwal” Palestine Premier Volleyball League for the first time in history after narrowly edging the Prophet Elias Club in hard-fought five-set thriller at the Sports Palace Hall in Salfit, a Palestinian city in the central West Bank.

Contesting the recent final showdown before a large crowd of cheering fans at the venue, Al-Quwat, known as the Forces Club, got off to a good start to snatch a convincing first set 25-20. However, the Prophet Elias Club put their acts together to take the next two sets 25-18, 25-16 for a 2-1 advantage.

Although the Prophet Elias Club stormed on in the thrilling fourth set, Al-Quwat found their groove and began to turn the heat on the tough rivals. The Forces Club fared better at the home stretch to take the hotly-contested set 26-24, forcing a tie-breaker to determine the eventual winners.

In the decider, Al-Quwat remained in great form, offensively and defensively to capture the thrilling tie-breaker 15-12, match and the title.

The Forces Club gave credit for the victory to the brilliance of their playmaker Moaz Sawan and striking forces represented by Muhammad Shamasneh, Yasser Shawahneh, Mahmoud Saleh, Saji Sukar and Mahmoud Al-Khatib for their fine forms and solid blocks as well as the efficiency of libero Abdullah Kittaneh in superbly defending the back-row attacks. Appreciation could also be felt genuinely for veteran coach Khalaf Yamin, who guided the team to victory.

Al-Quwat Club made the League and Cup doubles for the 2022 season, while the Prophet Elias contented themselves with the Super Cup title.

After the match, President of the Palestinian Volleyball Federation Captain Hamza Radhi presided over the awards presentation and closing ceremony, also attended by senior officials.

Referees of the final match were presented with commemorative medals. The eventual winners Al-Quwat Club received the League Cup and gold medals, with Prophet Elias players took home silver medals.
