Astemo’s American middle blocker Brionne Butler in attack
Another seven double-headers in the women’s Daido Life SV.League are coming up in Japan this weekend, highlighted by a clash between two teams from the top half of the current standings. Astemo Rivale Ibaraki will welcome Saitama Ageo Medics to the Hitachinaka City Sports Park Total Gymnastics for two matches, as the 13th leg of the regular season unfolds on Saturday and Sunday.

Astemo Rivale Ibaraki stand seventh, right above the midpoint in the table, on a 13-9 win-loss ratio and 37 points. In each of their previous three double headers, they always won the first match and lost the second. Saitama Ageo Medics, on the other hand, followed a pattern of losing one and winning one of their games, not always in that order, for their previous five double headers in a row, which has led them to 15-7 and 46 in third place.
Over a period of 10 years, the two clubs have met 25 times. Ageo are on a three-game victory streak in the head-to-head and lead the series by 15-10 in wins. Both matches at the Hitachinaka City Sports Park Total Gymnastics this weekend will start at 13:05 local time (04:05 UTC).

Both competition days will open with a game between Queenseis Kariya and Saga Hisamitsu Springs, at 12:05 (03:05) on Saturday and at 11:05 (02:05) on Sunday. The hosts from Kariya are in ninth place on 9-13 and 28, while the visitors from Saga stand sixth on 15-9 and 47.
The two teams at the top of the standings will both host teams from the lower end of the table at 13:05 (04:05) on both competition days.
Leaders Osaka Marvelous, standing on 18-4 and 55, will welcome Kurobe Aqua Fairies to the Green Arena Kobe. Korobe are third from the bottom, in 12th place on 9-15 and 25.
Winless Gunma Green Wings, who trail bottom, in 14th place on 0-20 and 1, will visit Denso Airybees Koriyama at the Kitagas Arena Sapporo. Denso, the team with the most wins and the most points so far in the league, are running second on win-loss ratio – 19-5 and 57.
Fourth-placed Victorina Himeji, who stand on 15-7 and 41, will travel to Aranmare Yamagata, who are second from the bottom, in 13th place on 2-22 and 8. The first match at the Yamagata Prefectural Sports Park Arena will get underway at 14:05 (05:05) on Saturday. The second will start at 13:05 (04:05) on Sunday.
At the same times on the two competition days, defending champions NEC Red Rockets Kawasaki will entertain Okayama Seagulls at the Todoroki Arena. NEC are running fifth on 14-8 and 44, while Okayama are in 10th place on 8-12 and 26.

In what has been selected Games of the Week, Toray Arrows Shiga will host PFU BlueCats Ishikawa Kahoku at the Shiga Daihatsu Arena at 14:05 (05:05) on both competition days. On 12-12 and 33, the hosts stand eighth in the table, while the visitors are in 11th place on 9-15 and 26.
