Bangkok, Thailand, March 4, 2022 – The updated 2022 AVC Beach Volleyball Competition Calendar has recently been circulated to all AVC affiliated National Federations following a new proposal from Thailand Volleyball Association.
The updates came after the TVA has requested to postpone the double-gender AVC Beach Tour Samila Open in Songkhla, which was initially set to take place between April 14 and 17, to coming July, with competition dates yet to be confirmed.
The Thai fans’ increasing enthusiasm has been shown to enhance a range of positive outcome in beach volleyball, the nature-friendly, fun-packed sport with intense competition mixed by entertainment. Last year, Thailand hosted many important beach volleyball competitions consisting of the Continental Cup Semifinals and Finals, Asian U19 and U21 Beach Volleyball Championships in Nakhon Pathom and Asian Senior Beach Volleyball Championships, FIVB U19 and U21 Beach Volleyball World Championships in Phuket.
The AVC Beach Tour Samila Open, regarded as traditional annual event, has attracted an increasing number of participants and their family members to Songkhla, helping promote tourism in the province.
Furthermore, TVA has also proposed to host the Asian U19 Beach Volleyball Championships in Roi Et from June 2 to 5, 2022. Roi Et is no stranger to organising beach volleyball events as the Northeastern province of Thailand has already hosted the 2nd Asian U21 Beach Volleyball Championships in 2018 as well as the 2017 and 2019 Asian U19 Beach Volleyball Championships.
Meanwhile, the AVC Beach Tour Master for Men will be hosted by Iran between October and November, with the competition dates yet to be confirmed. The 2022 Asian Senior Beach Volleyball Championships (Men & Women) are also due to be held in the same period (October-November), with the candidate host and competition dates to be officially announced later.
