BATTAMBANG, CAMBODIA NEXT ON FIVB WORLD TOUR

Lausanne, Switzerland, March 25, 2019 – Due to a date change for an event in Brazil, the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour will take a weekend off as the men completed the first third of their schedule this past week in Cambodia where a team from Austria garnered their first-ever gold medals on the international circuit.

With the planet’s elite women’s beach volleyball players not playing for a second straight week, the 15th of 45 men’s events on the 2018-2019 FIVB World Tour schedule was staged in Siem Reap, Cambodia, where the final four featured an all-European field with Austria’s Christoph Dressler and Alexander Huber recovering from a pool play setback on Friday to defeat Maxim Sivolap/Artem Yarzutkin of Russia in the three-set finale at the Anchor Beach Volleyball Carnival.

FIVB beach volleyball action resumes from April 4-7 in Cambodia for the fourth of four Anchor Beach Volleyball Carnival events in Battambang for a women’s-only tournament. The Anchor series in Cambodia started on February 21-24 in Phnom Penh with a women’s event followed by men’s tournaments in Kampong Speu and Siem Reap.

Following Battambang, the FIVB World Tour will stage double-gender events from April 8-11 in Satun, Thailand and April 11-14 in Langkawi, Malaysia before heading to Europe for an inaugural men’s and women’s tournament from April 18-21 in Gothenburg, Sweden. The international circuit concludes April’s schedule with a double gender event from April 24-29 in Xiamen, China.
