Bangkok, Thailand, March 21, 2021 – Zhejiang smashed Guangdong 3-0 on Saturday to secure their top-eight ticket in the Chinese Men’s Volleyball League in Qinhuangdao.
Zhang Guanhua scored 13 points to lead Zhejiang’s 3-0 (25-21, 25-16, 25-22) victory. Zheng Guangyuan chipped in with 11 points in losing effort for Guangdong.
Also in Saturday’s games, Beijing defeated Henan 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-19) to maintain their lead in Group A with 14 points. Shanghai overcame Hubei 3-1 (25-21, 25-20, 25-27, 25-15) to stay in the group’s second position with 12 points.
After Saturday’s competitions, Zhejiang were ranked third in Group A with 10 points. The fourth-ranked Henan have nine points in hand.
There is a round left for league’s stage one. Guangdong, which had six points but far less winning sets than Henan, will have no chance to advance to the second stage.
The lower-ranked Hubei and Liaoning have also been ousted.
