Bangkok, Thailand, October 24, 2020 – Beijing defeated Fujian 3-0 (28-26, 25-14, 25-21) to nail down their fourth straight win in the Chinese Men’s Volleyball Championship in Zhangzhou, xinhuanet.com reported on Friday.
With 11 points from their four wins, Beijing, along with Zhejiang, which have 12 points from their four wins, advanced to the last eight with two matches to play.
In the first set, both Beijing and Fujian traded the lead and the score was levelled from 23-23 through 26-26, with Beijing ending the set 28-26.
Fujian didn’t get the chance to rebound in the second set, in which Beijing established a huge margin quickly after the set began.
Fujian established a 5-1 lead at the start of the third set by taking advantage of mistakes made by Beijing, but the latter managed to pull equal at 7-7. The seesaw battle continued until 16-16, and Beijing took control soon afterwards to grab the overall victory.
In the other thrilling match, with aggressive jump serves, defending champions Jiangsu brushed aside Sichuan 3-1 (23-25, 25-21, 25-17, 25-23).
“Sichuan’s ace spikers made good serves, but we did better in serving and maintained the momentum,” said Jiangsu’s captain Zhang Chen.
