CAVA SECRETARY GENERAL KYLYCH SARBAGHYSHEV ELECTED SECRETARY GENERAL OF NOC KYRGYZSTAN

Bangkok, Thailand, December 21, 2021 – Mr Mohamed Latheef, President of the Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA), has issued a press release announcing that Mr Kylych Sarbaghyshev, Secretary General of Kyrgyzstan Volleyball Federation and CAVA Secretary General, has been elected to the post of Secretary General of National Olympic Committee of Kyrgyzstan.

Latheef, on behalf of all the National Federations of the Central Zone, has congratulated Kylych, 43, upon his election to the Secretary General of the NOC Kyrgyzstan and wished him good luck for landing his amazing new role.

On this auspicious occasion, AVC Press Department stood a good chance to interview Mr Kylych about his new role in the NOC Kyrgyzstan and the followings are what he has said.

Kylych and CAVA President Latheef

Q: How about the election process and where and when the appointment issue was brought for consideration?

A: There was a General Assembly this December and new President was elected. After the appointment, the President received the resignation of the current Secretary General. After that, he started asking for the application for those who were willing to join the NOC family. So, the Kyrgyzstan Volleyball Federation recommended me. I had passed the interview process. After the interview, the NOC President offered my candidature to the Executive Committee of NOC and the NOC Executive Committee elected me the Secretary General.

Q: How many years for working term in that position?

A: My working term is to the next Olympic season. Maybe after 2024, there will be a General Assembly of the NOC Kyrgyzstan again. There will be new candidates and new President. So, I’m working for this new Olympic term.

Q: How about your responsibility for the position?

A: The responsibility is close and similar to the position of AVC Secretary General. Coordination for international works of all national Olympic teams of Kyrgyzstan, coordination of 54 federations of NOC. So, I have a variety of activities. There will be staff of 5-6 people under my position and I coordinate for full work of NOC Kyrgyzstan.

Q: So far, you have been loaded with tons of responsibilities, how can you handle so many tasks?

A: Right now, we have CAVA Assembly in Bangladesh. People know that I was selected Secretary General of NOC Kyrgyzstan. So I have to talk to the President first. Because in both positions – Secretary General of Kyrgyzstan Volleyball Federation and CAVA Secretary General, I have my colleague from different parts of the world to assist me. So, I don’t really have big challenges with anything. I believe that if I’m fully working in different ability areas, I should work not for the NOC, not for the Federation as volunteer, but now as NOC Secretary General, I have to be fully working for sports. I believe it’s much easier for me to coordinate them to combine three positions.

Q: How many years had you been playing volleyball?

A: I started playing volleyball at 11 in my hometown Balykchy. At age 15, I was called to join the national team. It seemed that I was the youngest player to start playing in the senior national team. So far, I have gained experience in volleyball for around 31 years.

Q: As the NOC Secretary General, what may be your first assignment to do?

A: The first assignment is we have approached to the upcoming Winter Olympic Games. We will have a team of Kyrgyzstan to compete in the Winter Olympic Games. So, I have planned to attend the Games.
