Bangkok, Thailand, March 5, 2022 – The Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) President Mr Mohamed Latheef from Maldives has addressed the participants of the inaugural CAVA Volleyball Federation Management Course, focussing on the importance of such management programs and the governance improvement of the National Federations.
The address was delivered via Zoom on Friday at the closing ceremony of the CAVA Volleyball Federation Management Course, which was held at Urgelth State University in Uzbekistan from March 2 to 5, 2022.
In his closing remarks, CAVA President Mr Latheef highlighted the importance of having such programs. “The sole aim of these development programs is to enhance and improve the governance and management of the National Federations and at the same time, to improve the standards of volleyball and beach volleyball events organized by National Federations,” Mr Latheef stressed.
He also noted that these training programs are a series of development programs discussed earlier at the Annual General Meeting of CAVA held in Bangladesh last December.
Mr Latheef urged all National Federations to submit proposals to FIVB Volleyball Empowerment Program, the revolutionary new project aimed to empower all National Federations from categories one through to five and improve the level of national teams and athletes worldwide.
The CAVA President also said that Mr Mohammad Yousuf Sadeq, FIVB Course Instructor and former head coach of Afghanistan senior men’s volleyball team, has been appointed by CAVA as Research and Development Director to help National Federations in preparing projects to submit to FIVB Volleyball Empowerment Program.
Adding to his address, Mr Latheef talked about the importance of strengthening the governance of National Federations as management of National Federations plays a vital role in shaping the National Teams.
“We need to build quality and good National Teams to compete in AVC Championships. However, to achieve this, we have to strengthen the governance of National Federations and improve the quality of competitions.”
In his address, the CAVA President thanked AVC President Mrs Rita Subowo for her promptness in facilitating this course by sending AVC Executive Director Mr Shanrit Wongprasert, regarding one of the most experienced instructors within Asia region who held three major positions during his heyday career consisting of former FIVB Board of Administration Member, AVC Secretary General and AVC Sports Events Council Chairman, to conduct this three-day management course.
Mr Mohamed Latheef urged all participants to fully implement the effective training and make use of their experience and knowledge gained from the course.
The CAVA President informed the participants that CAVA is working on conducting VIS course and Volleyball Analysis course in the near future, adding that this too will help improve the standard of competitions held in Central Asia.
Mr Latheef also thanked all National Federations for sending participants to this training program.
At the closing ceremony of the CAVA Volleyball Federation Management Course, Uzbekistan Volleyball Federation Secretary General Mr Khusan Nasrullaev thanked AVC for facilitating the training course and also gave a commitment that Uzbekistan will remain an active partner in hosting future AVC events.
After that, the AVC Certificates were presented by AVC Executive Director and the Course Instructor Mr Shanrit Wongprasert to all 17 participants from seven National Federations consisting of Tajikistan (2), Kyrgyzstan (1), Pakistan (1), Kazakistan (1), Maldives (1), Bangladesh (1) and Uzbekistan (10).
