Jiangmen, China, December 15, 2021 – Shanghai beat Zhejiang 3-0 and Tianjin smashed Shenzhen 3-0 on Wednesday here in the opening round of the Chinese Women’s Volleyball Super League’s second phase.
Following the end of the first phase, all 14 Super League teams were redrawn into two new groups, with the strongest three sides from each first phase group to play the bottom four sides from the other group.
The second phase consists of two round-robin stages, with the top four teams qualifying for the semifinals.
Wednesday’s games didn’t provide any upsets, as Kim Yeon-koung notched 19 points, and Zhong Hui and Ouyang Qianqian added 16 and 11 respectively as first phase Group B leaders Shanghai defeated Zhejiang 25-14, 27-25, 25-21.
Tianjin, the top ranked side from the first phase’s Group A, eased past Shenzhen 25-22, 25-11, 25-12, with Tianjin’s Yuan Xinyue scoring a game high 16 points.
Other games saw Jiangsu hammer Yunnan 3-0, Shandong beat Henan 3-0, Guangdong defeat Fujian 3-1 and Liaoning best Sichuan 3-0.
