Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, October 5, 2021 – The Control Committee and the organisers were in a face-to-face gathering to check field conditions and other concerned activities for readiness ahead of the 2021 Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship, which will be held next to the on-going competition from October 8 to 15 at the same venue.
AVC Executive Director Mr Shanrit Wongprasert, himself AVC Honorary Life Vice President, presided over the Joint Meeting between the Control Committee and the local organizers at the Meeting Room inside Terminal 21 Hall, which serves as a battleground of this topflight competition.
Shanrit, on behalf of the AVC and TVA President Mr Somporn Chaibangyang, welcomed all the Control Committee Members and admitted that this competition is not being held in normal situations due to the COVID-19 pandemic and all the Control Committee Members, therefore, should work together in close cooperation to manipulate this tournament in a positive way.
“All the health protocols are observed under the Department of Disease Control and all the organizing committees are in the secure bubble. More than 100 people as well as Control Committee Members are staying in the bubble,” Shanrit said.
AVC Secretary General Mr Kiattipong Radchatagriengkai, himself Technical Sub-Committee concerning the certificate of entry, explained difficulties of the local organizing committee to ease entry of the participating teams, citing that, “Normally, all passengers arriving from other countries will be placed under state quarantine for observation of symptoms for at least 14 days according to the Thailand Quarantine Regulations, but effective negotiations with concerned parties including the Department of Disease Control had been necessarily made to exempt the teams from staying in quarantine and joining the event only with a swab test upon arrival.”
Control Committee Chairman Mr Yermek Syrlybayev from Kazakhstan welcomed all CC members and shared his experience from the Asian Women’s Club Championship as he has been dealing with earlier in the same function since October 1. He invited everyone to cooperate closely to make the Championship a smooth run and a great success in their endeavours.
“The effective assistance of the local organizing committee helps the Asian Women’s Club Championship run smoothly and I’m quite confident to say that it’s impossible to run everything smoothly without the commitment of the local organizing committee,” Yermek stressed.
After that, all Control Committee Members and the local organizers went to the Terminal 21 Hall on purpose of venue inspection.
Ten teams are set to strut their stuff in the 2021 Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship in Nakhon Ratchasima, vying for the lone spot up for grabs for the FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship.
Participating teams are due to register their delegation in the preliminary inquiry on Tuesday afternoon from 4pm to 9:45pm local time on the lobby floor of Centre Point Hotel, the official team hotel.
In light of the on-going COVID-19 pandemic and to protect the health and wellbeing of all participants, the nasal swab test is set to be conducted every 3 days from their arrival to closely observe the health protocols. Furthermore, on the technical side, the VNL principles are to be followed such as no court switch, no handshake, no mopper and etc. The one-week competition will also be the same as the on-going Asian Women’s Club Championship, being held behind closed doors.
