Bangkok, Thailand, March 17, 2021 – Hot-favourites Diamond Food VC extended their unbeaten run in the Thailand Volleyball League after a 3-0 demolition of Mor Asia Koh Kood Cabana in the mid-week encounter at Nimibutr Gymnasium.

Diamond Food and Nakhon Ratchasima The Mall’s VC had a field day on Wednesday when both teams captured exceptional straight-set wins against their respective rivals.

Getting their second-leg campaign of the Thailand’s top-flight professional league off to a superb start with consecutive two wins, Diamond Food still relied on their strong lineup including two Brazilians, Luiz Perotto and Andre Luiz Queiroz Franca, Kantaphat Koonme and Kissada Nilsawai, both of them current Thailand national team players, in their encounter against Mor Asia Koh Kood Cabana on Wednesday.

With Perotto and Kantaphat in particularly on good form, Diamond Food comfortably saw off lower-ranked rivals in straight sets 25-18, 25-18, 25-20 for a clean sweep of three wins in a row.

Diamond Food now have 9 points and stand a bright chance of securing a berth in the Final Four. They will next take on Phitsanulok VC on Saturday, March 20, with Mor Asia Koh Kood Cabana facing Prince VC the following day.

Reigning and six-time champions Nakhon Ratchasima, which had already suffered their first loss at the hands of Diamond Food, fielded key players including hard-hitting Janitha Surath from Sri Lanka and the two towers, the 205cm-tall Aimal Khan from Pakistan and 202cm Kittipong Suksala, in their match against Prince VC, strengthened by former Thailand national player Kitsada Somkane.

As expected, Nakhon Ratchasima proved too strong for Prince VC, cruising to a sensational 25-20, 25-22, 25-17 victory over the opponents. Nakhon Ratchasima collected 6 points from two wins against one loss to next challenge 2018-2019 champions Air Force VC. Mor Asia Koh Kood Cabana had 3 points from one win against two losses.

In the women’s event, defending champions Supreme Chonburi E-Tech proved that their victories in the Thailand League for three times and the Asian Women’s Club Championship for two times in a row in 2017 and 2018 were no fluke. Fielding a strong lineup led by star spiker Pleumjit Thinkaow, Ajcharaporn Kongyot and Wipawee Srithong, Supreme outclassed Proflex VC in a one-sided affair 25-11, 25-22, 25-15.

Supreme had 6 points from two wins against one loss, while Proflex have yet won a match in the second-leg competition to find it difficult to make the cut for the Final Four.

However, a tough task awaits Supreme on Saturday, March 20 when they will go up against unbeaten Diamond Food VC, strong with the likes of highly-experienced setter Nootsara Tomkom, ace spiker Onuma Sittirak, Malika Kanthong and former Thailand national team player Amphon Hyhapha. Proflex will next challenge 3BB Nakornnont on Sunday.
