Twenty-four teams learn opponents and venues at the Women’s World Championship
Co-hosts the Netherlands will welcome the teams of Italy, Belgium, Puerto Rico, Cameroon and Kenya to Arnhem for the matches in Pool A of the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship 2022, following the draw that was held in Lausanne on Thursday to define the pool composition and venues for the first stage of the tournament.
The 24 participating teams were drawn into four pools of six each. They will all play their first games at the GelreDome in Arnhem, before the participants in Pools B and C transfer to the Polish cities of Gdansk and Lodz, respectively. Pools A and D will stay in Arnhem.
The other co-hosts, Poland will get their World Championship campaign started in the company of Turkey, the Dominican Republic, Korea, Thailand and Croatia, drawn into Pool B.
Last year’s Tokyo 2020 Olympic champions and current FIVB World Ranking leaders USA headline Pool C, which also features defending 2018 world champions Serbia, while the world’s number two, South American champs Brazil lead the line-up in Pool D.

After the first stage, the top four teams in each pool will advance to the second phase featuring two pools of eight teams each (to be played in Rotterdam and Lodz), with the best four moving on to the quarterfinals.
Fans will get an opportunity to watch and enjoy the performances of the world’s top stars at this year’s premier event, battling it out for World Championship honours.
2018 finalists Tijana Boskovic of Serbia and Paola Egonu of Italy will again be expected to engage in electrifying action and high-scoring thrills. Superb Polish playmaker Joanna Wolosz and brilliant Dutch libero Myrthe Schoot will find inspiration from the home crowds. And Jordan Larson and Kim Yeon-Koung, MVPs of the Olympics in Tokyo and London, will be eager to once again prove their worth as they are challenged by promising young talents from around the world.
