FIRST FIVB COACHES COURSE OF 2021 GETS UNDERWAY ONLINE

The Course is split into two classrooms, with the first classroom conducted by Mr Shailen Ramdoo from Finland and the second one by Mr Atsushi Katoh from Japan

Bangkok, Thailand, October 4, 2021 – The FIVB Level-1 Coaches Course is being organised online by FIVB Development Centre Thailand in conjunction with Thailand Volleyball Association and Asian Volleyball Confederation between October 4 and 14, 2021.

As the world of work has been profoundly affected by the global COVID-19 pandemic, Thailand also faces waves of coronavirus infections across the country and thus, has implemented travel and lockdown restrictions and strict measures to mitigate the spread of the COVID-19. The FIVB DC Thailand also understood the situation and decided to close all running activities since March 2020.

However, approved by FIVB Technical and Development Department, the FIVB DC Thailand got the online first Coaches Course of 2021 off the ground despite the global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Due to huge demand for the Level-1 Coaches Course, the FIVB DC Thailand got the FIVB approval to simultaneously conduct this course in two different classrooms.

Mr Shailen Ramdoo from Finland

The first classroom is conducted by Mr Shailen Ramdoo, FIVB Course Instructor from Finland, with 29 coaches including 18 men participating, while Mr Atsushi Katoh, FIVB Course Instructor from Japan, conducts the second classroom with 31 coaches from 12 countries including 12 women in attendance.

The opening ceremony of both classrooms was held on Monday, attended by AVC Executive Director Mr Shanrit Wongprasert, himself AVC Honorary Life Vice President, AVC Secretary General Mr Kiattipong Radchatagriengkai, FIVB DC Thailand Director Mr Chai Nimakorn, Mr Issara Riddhisinha, General Manager of the FIVB DC Thailand, Ms Mingkwan Pusiddusid, Director of AVC Development Department, and both FIVB Course Instructors.

AVC President Mrs Rita Subowo

AVC President Mrs Rita Subowo presided over the opening ceremony of both classrooms on Monday, showing that the continent’s volleyball-governing body pays great attention to the technical side, in relation to coaches or referees on the way to developing the game system in Asia.

Subowo gave a short speech at each  ceremony, in which she thanked the FIVB for entrusting the Coaches Course to the FIVB DC Thailand. She also thanked the FIVB Instructors and the organisers to make the development course happen amidst the grave concerns over the epidemic and wished all participants a success in the course, good health and safety.

TVA President Mr Somporn Chaibangyang welcomed all participants in both classrooms, saying that it is a good opportunity for them to exchange their knowledge and build cordial friendship during the Course. He also thanked Mr Shailen Ramdoo and Mr Atsushi Katoh for their great contribution to conducting the online Course.

Mr Chai Nimakorn, Director of the FIVB DC Thailand, also welcomed all participants to the Level-1 Coaches Course, citing that this is the first course to be conducted online during the COVID-19 pandemic and informing them of the yearly activities to be held at the FIVB DC Thailand.

The 10-day Coaches Course is held at the same time in two different classrooms. Coaches participating in this Course will stand a chance of learning basic information including structure and global programs development, nature of volleyball as a team sport, role and moral principles of coaches as well as rules of the game, volleyball for beginners, basic theory of training and technical skills. The Course is set to conclude on October 14, 2021.
