Ramon Suzara shares plans for the development of volleyball in the Philippines
FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° on Tuesday welcomed the President of the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF), Ramon Suzara, at the FIVB Headquarters to discuss the development of the sport in the country.
During the meeting, Mr Suzara updated the FIVB President about the recent changes within the sport in the Philippines and the preparations for the first-ever Volleyball Nations League (VNL) pools in the country.
Additionally, they discussed the 12-month coaching support project provided to the PNVF by the FIVB and the progress made so far. As part of the project, the FIVB appointed Head Coach Brazilian Jorge Edson Souza de Brito, a volleyball Olympic gold medallist at the Olympic Games Barcelona 1992, to help players maximise their potential.
After the meeting, FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° said:
“I am delighted to receive several positive updates about the development of volleyball in the Philippines with a special focus on the national team. The most important being that the Philippine National Volleyball Federation is now working for the benefit of athletes and the volleyball community in the country. I am excited to see the progress of this development and the impact of FIVB coaching support in the next months. I also believe that the Philippines, which will host the VNL pools in 2022 for the first time ever, will be an excellent host.”
The Philippines is set to host two pools of the VNL 2022 during week two of the men’s and women’s events from June 21-26 and June 14-19 respectively.
