The men’s national team of France and the Chinese women’s team of Xinjiang triumphed as winners of The Belt and Road • The Silk Road Journey International Snow Volleyball Invitational Tournament at the Tianshan Tianchi ski resort in the Xinjiang autonomous region of China.
France and Iran in battle during the men’s final
After a great battle in Sunday’s men’s final, France defeated Iran in straight sets, leaving Iran in second place with the silver medals. Just a week earlier, the French team celebrated victory on top of the podium at the 2024 CEV Snow Volleyball European Tour second stop in Erzurum, Türkiye.
In the third-place game, hosts Xinjiang defeated another Chinese team, that of the Ningxia autonomous region, also in straight sets, to grab the bronze. The squad representing the Neimenggu (Inner Mongolia) autonomous region finished in fifth place.

In the women’s competition, the first team of Xinjiang pleased the home fans with a 2-0 victory over the national team of Kazakhstan in the gold medal showdown. Team 2 Xinjiang beat Ningxia for the bronze, while Neimenggu finished fifth on the women’s side as well.
In each gender category, the tournament started with a single round-robin phase with five teams, followed by the elimination phase.

The historic snow volleyball event in China was organised by the Chinese Volleyball Association, the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Sports Bureau and the Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture People’s Government.
