Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, October 9, 2021 – Kazma Sport Club bagged the first victory over CEB Sports Club of Sri Lanka in thrilling three-setter 25-19, 25-22, 25-17 in the 2021 Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship at Terminal 21 Hall on Saturday.

After 2-3 loss in their opening Pool A clash to Nakhon Ratchasima QminC VC the previous day, Kazma Sport Club of Kuwait came back much stronger in this match against CEB Sports Club, which played their first encounter on Saturday.

Kazma Sport Club, runners-up in the Kuwait Super League, were working as a well-oiled machine on Saturday, penetrating the rivals’ defence with their aggressive attacks and solid blocks to claim the first two sets 25-19, 25-22.

CEB Sports Club hit back bravely to revive their fortunes in the third set, but the Kuwaiti defence proved impeccable, allowing the rivals scoring difficulties. With the wind in their sails, Kazma Sport Club were superior in every department to eventually capture the set 25-17 for a sensational 3-0 win.

Dominican Elvis Contrera and Abdulrahman Almutawa led Kazma Sport Club with 14 and 12 points respectively, while Chamindu Hirushan atepola Arachchige scored a game-high 18 points on the CEB Sports Club’s losing effort.

Brazilian Fabiano Preturlon, Kazma Sport Club head coach, said, “Yesterday and today are passed and we are thinking of our next matches which are against two tough rivals. All matches are of equal importance for us and we respect all teams. We are here to learn volleyball too. The players are not very professional as there is a wide difference between them and the one in Brazil. I have joined them just three weeks and I am also evaluating them in this tournament to check their level of mentality, tactics and the like.”

Kazma Sport Club will have a rest day on Sunday and are due to challenge South Gas Club in their third preliminary match on Monday, while CEB Sports Club will take on South Gas Club on Sunday.
