The Commission met in a hybrid format on Friday

The Volleyball Council on Friday discussed various upcoming volleyball events at its meeting which was held in a hybrid format with the Commission President, Secretary and Continental Confederation Presidents joining from the FIVB Headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland.

A number of important topics was discussed during the meeting, including upcoming events, the World Rankings and the Volleyball Calendar 2022-2024. The event organisers of the 2022 FIVB Volleyball World Championships also presented their reports on preparations for these prestigious events.

FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° encouraged the Commission to continue working with an open mind while looking for opportunities to innovate the sport and bring more exciting experiences to fans all over the world. 2022 is a very important year for volleyball with two Volleyball World Championships – the men’s in Russia and women’s in the Netherlands and Poland – and the sport’s flagship annual event, the Volleyball Nations League, which will this year be held in a new format.

Speaking at the meeting, the FIVB President said:

“As always, we need to keep the level of our events very high. We need to think outside the box and always look for new ways to modernise our sport and make it more innovative and attractive for fans. We need to support the changes and tests that are being done in the sport.

We should always plan ahead and continue working on improving the official volleyball calendar and the elite competitions. So I count on the members of the Commission, with your experience and expertise, to support us on this while ensuring the consistency and quality of our events. I would also like to thank the Presidents of the Continental Confederations for their participation and contribution to the meeting.”

The Friday’s meeting concludes the series of meetings of the 12 FIVB Commissions and Councils which cover all aspects of the sport.
