KOREA BAG FIRST WIN AFTER 3-0 BLITZ OVER THAILAND IN 14TH ASIAN MEN’S U18 CHAMPIONSHIP

Tehran, Iran, August 15, 2022 – Korea pulled off straight-set 27-25, 25-17, 25-20 win in action-packed contest against Thailand in their opening Pool B match of the 14th Asian Men’s U18 Volleyball Championship at Federation Hall on Monday.

Yun Seojin top-scored with 11 points including 9 attacks for Korea, while Samphan Leklai bagged 12 points for the losing Thailand.

The match turned out to be tough-looking match, with both sides traded attacks throughout the whole match, but the Korean side fared better to dominate the on-going game for most of the time, ending the match in thrilling three sets.

Korea made a confident start in their opening encounter against Thailand as they edged out the Thais 27-25 with crashing spikes of Yun Seojin and Song Wonjun.

Thailand tried hard to get their rhythm back on track but still found Korea an impossible nut to crack and lost the second set by a wide margin 17-25.

Going down two straight sets, the Thais began the set at the same level, trading scores one by one but Korea enlarged the margin to 18-15 before winning 25-20.

“Today, we had a tight game. We had our own problems in receiving and attacking, we tried to solve the problem of the team and play a good game in the third set but it was too late,” Khjhornsak Manapornchai, head coach of Thailand, said.

Korea will next play Japan in their second match in Pool B on Tuesday, while Thailand will challenge India.
