Manama, Bahrain, May 21, 2023 – Korean Air Jumbos Pro-Volleyball Club brushed off Bayankhongor Crownd Geo VC in straight sets 25-21, 25-23, 25-18 to finish 7th place at the 2023 Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship at Isa Bin Rashid Hall 1 on Sunday.
Jeong Hanyong scored a match-high 19 points including 18 kills from 35 attempts for Korean Air Jumbos Pro-Volleyball Club, while Batsuuri Battur led Bayankhongor Crownd Geo VC with 15 points from 14 attacks and an ace.
In the first set, debutants Korean Air Jumbos responded with effective blocks and powerful attacks. The Koreans went on their attacks to win the challenging set 25-21.
The second set was more thrilling as both teams came out in full measure, but after leading with two points ahead at 21-19, Korean Air Jumbos stormed on consistently. Spectacular attacks from Jeong Hanyong and Kim Minjae worked out pretty well in overcoming the solid Mongolian blocks to help the Korean side win the hard-fought set 25-23.
Korean Air Jumbos showed more improvement in the third set and came out with a different level, winning back-to-back points and from then playing more consistently to win 25-18 and match. It was another feat for the Korean side against the same rivals, whom they had narrowly beaten 3-1 in the quarterfinals earlier.
En route to the 7th-place finish in this top-tier competition, Korean Air Jumbos Pro-Volleyball Club had four wins against three losses to Indonesia’s Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi, Japan’s Suntory Sunbirds, and Kuwait Sporting Club.
