MEETING HELD TO REVIEW FINAL PREPARATION FOR FIVB BEACH VOLLEYBALL WORLD TOUR IN QATAR

Bangkok, Thailand, February 15, 2021 – Mr Ali bin Ghanim Al-Kuwari, Chairman of the QVA Board of Directors, chaired the Sunday’s meeting at the Federation’s headquarters to review the final preparation and equipment needed in hosting the first two international beach volleyball events on the 2021 calendar in Qatar, volleyball.qa reported on Monday.

The first of two events in Doha is scheduled for February 22-26 for a men-only World Tour 1-Star at the Al-Gharafa Beach Complex, followed by the double-gender 4-Star Katara Beach Volleyball Cup in the district of Katara from March 8-12.

Both events will be held with all necessary precautionary and preventive measures taken to limit the spread of the COVID-19 and follow the safe health bubble system in coordination with the Ministry of Public Health.

The resumption of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour begins February 23 as 33 teams from 16 countries representing all five continental confederations have entered the US$5,000 Doha Beach Volleyball Cup at the Al-Gharrafa Beach Complex.

The Qatari duo, Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan, ranked 13 on the FIVB World Tour, will be at the forefront of the participating teams in the tournament, in which six teams from Qatar have also been regarded as the most prominent participants.
