After being cancelled in 2020 due to COVID-19, 16 nations are set to line up in the pinnacle world event running that will run through until the end of June.
Volleyroos is set to face Germany tonight (Friday 28 May) at 8:00pm AEST, with newly appointed Head Coach Marcos Miranda ready for his side to take part in their first international match in more than a year.
“Our Men’s Volleyroos are enjoying the opportunity to be playing international Volleyball after more than a year without participating in international competitions,” said Miranda.
“Our team is filled with veterans and rookies and will come prepared to do our very best at our opening game of the 2021 Volleyball Nations League,” he said.
For Volleyroos captain, Nehemaih Mote, he said drawing Germany first gives them some confidence going into the first match.
“Germany do not have fond memories of us since the VNL format change: we’ve played them twice and come away with the goods twice!
“Although this time around both rosters are drastically different, we can draw confidence from those encounters and hopefully blood our rookies with a win first-up,” Captain Nehemaih Mote said.
