For Sakaguchi and Reika silver was their first World Tour medal of the 2018-19 season.

Indonesia’s Dhita Juliana and Putu Utami won bronze with a 2-1 (17-21, 21-18, 16-14) victory over number one seeds Eva Freiberger and Valerie Teufl of Austria. It is the first time they have finished on a World Tour podium.

It was the third consecutive season that Daegu has hosted a World Tour tournament and it ran from July 11-14 with US$5,000 on offer to the winners.
