Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, September 26, 2024 – Japan’s NEC Red Rockets Kawasaki took the fourth available semifinals slot after defeating Hong Kong, China’s Kwai Tsing in straight sets 3-0 (25-9, 25-10, 25-11) at the 2024 Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship at Chartchai Hall.
Haruko Sasaki, Moeka Kinoe and Ai Hirota scored in double-digit figures to boost the 2016 champions to a sweep on Thursday evening.
Head coach Takayuki Kaneko practiced the luxury to rest and reserve his most accurate hitter Yoshino Sato in the second set. Hirota and Sasaki clocked in top quality minutes and did an equally fantastic job with the outside hitter position.
Meanwhile, Kwai Tsing would mostly resort to shuffling their roster in order to find the best six on the floor. They would still stick with their main hitters Shum Lam and captain Yu Ying Chi when they could run their plays.
The Japan club maintained high percentage in their attack, even with the change of hitters. They showed a much established system across all players and all possible roster combinations on the floor. They maintained good momentum throughout the match, wasting no time in confirming their right to remain in contention for the 2024 title.
