Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, July 3, 2022 – Coaches and captains of the participating teams converged in a Press Conference on Sunday afternoon at the NU Sports Centre ahead of the 21st Asian Women’s U20 Volleyball Championship.
China coach Kuang Qi: “During the pandemic, we tried to get the best players from different regions and provinces, and we feel we have prepared well. We believe in ourselves that we can do well in this competition.”
China captain Wang Yifan: “We promise to work really hard during the matches.”
India coach Ashok Kumar Chhakara: “We are in a big group alongside Japan, China, Chinese Taipei and Uzbekistan. This time, we will try to play better.”
India captain Pal Prerona: “Our coach has done all the hard work and we have also done the same hard work to prepare for the matches.”
Iran coach Boloorizadeh Padideh: “We want to thank the FIVB and the AVC for accepting the players who did not have a chance to participate in the previous edition because of Covid-19. They have an opportunity to experience this championship and be in their age group.”
Iran captain Zehra Rezaei: “This time we have a new vision. We prepared for this competition and we are hopeful to get better results than before to build a good foundation for the next generation of volleyball stars.”
Japan coach Akinori Yamada: “Japan is ready to face the challenge with good teamwork, in order to make the future of volleyball better.”
Japan captain Haruka Kaji: “Our goal here is to really do our best.”
Korea coach Eo Chang Sun: ”We are grateful to Kazakhstan for hosting this competition and to AVC for continuing the program. Our team has put in all the effort in preparing for this championship, and it is our objective to do our best.”
Korea captain Park Su Yeon: “Our team is not as tall as the others so we have prepared to play the floor well.”
Thailand coach Nattapong Kesapan: “Our team has prepared for this competition with all our players and staff training really hard to show their best.”
Thailand captain Donphon Sinpho: “I am happy to represent Thailand as the captain of the team.”
Chinese Taipei coach Kang Chin-Tu: “We have the honor to join this championship. We have prepared for a long time, and we will try our best to reach the finals.”
Chinese Taipei captain Peng Yu-Rou: “We only have eight players in this competition, but we are ready to play our matches.”
Uzbekistan coach Bakhriddin Kholmuminov: “We thank the Kazakhstan Federation and the AVC for this important competition for all of us. I wish the best of luck for everybody.”
Uzbekistan captain Ayaulym Muratova:” We have come to show our best here.”
Earlier, Technical Delegate Mr Yermek Syrlybayev from host federation Kazakhstan presided over the joint meeting between the AVC Control Committee and the Local Organizing Committee to welcome all delegates and officials.
“We look forward to a successful competition for all the participants. We have prepared with our best effort to bring the AVC Volleyball family much closer, to help make our confederation even stronger. As for the teams., we hope everyone gets to play their very best, and in the end, bring home many good memories of Kazakhstan volleyball and our signature hospitality,” said Syrlybayev.
The competition starts with pool play (Pool A – KAZ, IRI, THA, KOR and Pool B – JPN, CHN, TPE, IND, UZB) on Monday, July 4, 2022. Teams head into a rest and recovery day on Friday, July 8.
The semi-finals follow on Sunday, July 10; with the medal matches and awarding ceremony to cap off the week-long competition in the Kazakh capital on Monday, July 11.
The champion and vice-champion teams shall earn direct berths as Asian representatives in the 2023 FIVB Volleyball Women’s U21 World Championship, with the host city to be announced at a later date.
