Bangkok, Thailand, July 4, 2022 – The 2022 Vietnam National Volleyball Championships – Duc Giang Chemical Cup are well underway at Ninh Binh and Vinh Phuc Gymnasiums after a one-month delay caused by the multi-sports 31st Southeast Asian Games the country had hosted in May.
The championships were split into men’s and women’s events, with Pool A featuring 6 men’s teams and 5 women’s sides and Pool B 5 men’s teams and 6 women’s squads.
The championships simultaneously kicked off on Sunday at both competition venues, with the Opening Ceremony, presided by Volleyball Federation of Vietnam Vice President Mr Tran Duc Phan, being held at Vinh Phuc. Generous sponsors, supporters, VIP guests and participating teams also attended the ceremony.
The preliminaries are being held from July 3 to 9 and after that, teams will move to contest final and ranking rounds between July 13 and 17, with the women’s matches taking place in Vinh Phuc and the men’s encounters in Ninh Binh.
According to the rules and regulations of the Vietnam National Championships, after completion of the championships, two lowest-ranked teams (finishing 10th and 11th places) in the men’s and women’s events apiece will be relegated to Division A Tournament in 2023.
Meanwhile, this year’s Vietnam National Volleyball Championships have significantly marked the return of the international appearance of foreign players after 10 years. Seventeen players in total have ITC for 14 out of 22 clubs registered. ITC or the International Transfer Certificate is issued when players move from one country to another and wish to play volleyball, they are required to have ITC.
