Tehran, Iran, January 19, 2021 – In-form Saipa need only one more point from the remaining two matches to officially secure the Iranian Women’s Volleyball Super League title, iranvolleyball.com reported.
Saipa, which have clinched four consecutive wins in the final stage of the competition, already have one foot on the podium and to capture their eventual victory this season is just a step away.
Four teams advanced to the home-and-away final stage. Saipa made a clean sweep in the round-robin home round following their wins against Zob Ahan, Qazvin Shahrdari and Tehran Paykan. Also, they had already pulled out a crucial victory over Zob Ahan in their first away match.
After four matches in the final stage including three home encounters, Saipa stayed atop the top-four standing with 12 points, with Esfahan Zob Ahan and Tehran Paykan coming in second and third places with similar 6 points. Winless Qazvin Shahrdari are trailing on bottom of the standing.
All four participating teams will contest two more matches on January 26 and 28 before the curtains will come down on the Iranian Women’s Super League this season. However, Saipa look set to claim their title as the unbeaten side need only one more point to accomplish their goal.
