Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, September 29, 2024 – Yoshino Sato of Japan’s NEC Red Rockets Kawasaki was hailed as the Most Valuable Player of 2024 Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship during the Awarding Ceremony held on Sunday at Nakhon Ratchasima’s famed Chartchai Hall.
The 22-year-old outside hitter stood out at the top of the 2024 edition’s Dream Team, with her consistent contribution all throughout the competition.
Japan’s NEC Red Rockets Kawasaki staged a straight-sets win, 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-17) over Vietnam’s LPBank Ninh Binh in the title match. The Japan club found a way to contain their opponents’ main hitters, posting a well-timed, well-lined block formation. Add to this Sato’s dependability on both attack and passing units.
Sato is joined by teammates Shiori Tsukada (Best Setter), Haruyo Shimamura (Best Middle Blocker) and Sayaka Daizukono (Best Libero) in the roster of awardees.
Vice-champions LPBank Ninh Binh bagged two awards for captain Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen (Best Opposite) and Warisara Seetaloed (Best Outside Hitter).
Earlier, Nakhon Ratchasima QminC VC gifted the home crowd with a bronze medal after sweeping Kazakhstan’s Kuanysh VC 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-21). Onuma Sittirak, who received the Best Outside Hitter nod, was the best scorer of the match with 15 points. Benoit Markenzie also delivered in key plays as one of the Best Middle Blockers in the competition. They added the 2024 bronze medal to their earlier achievement of a silver medal, also won at home, in the 2021 edition.
As the two highest-ranked teams in the competition, NEC Red Rockets Kawasaki (JPN) and LPBank Ninh Binh (VIE) are set to join A. Carraro Imoco Coneglioano (ITA), Allianz Vero Volley Milano (ITA), Gerdau Minas (BRA), Dentil Praia Clube (BRA), Zamalek SC (EGY) and the host team from China in the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship scheduled from December 16-22, 2024.
