Beijing, China, December 31, 2022 – Shenzhen overcame Jiangsu in hard-fought five-setter on Saturday to reach the semifinals of the Chinese Women’s Volleyball Super League for the first time.
Shenzhen secured their semifinal spot with a 31-29, 9-25, 24-26, 25-20 and 15-11 victory over the young Jiangsu side. Spikers Sara Klisura and Odina Aliyeva combined for 49 points for Shenzhen.
Shenzhen will vie for a final berth with Shanghai, while Tianjin and Fujian will face off in the other semifinal which kicks off next Monday.
In the men’s League semifinals, Beijing beat Shandong 25-18, 25-15, 23-25 and 25-22 to sweep the latter in the best-of-three series.
Beijing spiker Yosvany Hernandez had a game-high 20 points.
Shanghai downed Zhejiang 25-22, 25-23 and 25-20 to level the series at 1-1, and both sides will meet in the decider on Sunday.
