Bangkok, Thailand, November 23, 2020 – Title-holders Tianjin surged ahead Guangdong to the top of the Chinese Women’s Volleyball League as they pulled off a sensation 3-0 win over Liaoning in Jiangmen on Sunday, xinhuanet.com reported.

The highly-anticipated fixture between Tianjin and Liaoning turned out to be a lopsided one, as star spiker Zhu Ting scored a game-high 23 points, leading Tianjin to brush off Liaoning with straight sets (25-17, 25-15, 25-12).

The win, coupled with Guangdong’s bye on the matchday, sent the defending champion to the pole position on the table.

Jiangsu conceded their second defeat in a later fixture this season as they lost to Shanghai 2-3 (20-25, 21-25, 25-18, 25-23, 11-15).

Jiangsu fought back to get back on level terms after being 2-0 down, but they still lost the fifth set.

Shanghai’s Louisa Lippmann and Jordan Larson provided 27 and 21 points respectively, while Zhang Changning led Jiangsu with 26.

Elsewhere, Zhejiang beat Yunnan 3-0, Beijing overwhelmed Hebei 3-0, Fujian dominated Sichuan 3-0 and Shandong conquered Henan 3-0.
