Zhongwei, China, August 25, 2019 – China’s Wen Shuhui and Wang Jingzhe rallied past Japan’s Sayaka Mizoe and Miki Koshikawa 2-1 (21-17, 13-21, 15-13) in the final and make a repeat win in the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Zhongwei 2-star.
On Sunday morning, Wen and Wang defeated Mizoe and Koshikawa’s compatriots Chiyo Suzuki and Yurika Sakaguchi in the semifinal 2-0 (21-17, 21-17), then staged their return to the top podium with the tie-break win in the final match.
Wen and Wang have won a total of five World Tour gold medals – all from 2-star events held in China, including the Zhongwei gold medal last year, when they defeated Wang Fan and Xue Chen.
The bronze medal went to Chinese pair Chen Chunxia and Zhu Lingdi who registered a straight-set (21-13, 21-16) triumph against Chiyo and Sakaguchi.
