WORLD TOUR RETURNS TO CAMBODIA

Lausanne, Switzerland, February 4, 2019 – Phnom Penh is the first stop on the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour in February as the leading annual beach volleyball tournament returns.

Cambodia’s capital will host the women-only 2-Star tournament from February 21-24 at the National Sports Complex and it is the first of three tournaments that the south-east Asian country will host in 2019 with Kg Speu set to host a 1-star men’s tournament from March 7 to 10 and Siem Reap to host a 2-Star men’s tournament from March 21-24.

Japanese teams claim the first and second seed positions. Sayaka Mizoe and Suzuka Hashimoto are seeded first, with Takemi Nishibori and Ayumi Kusano second seeds.

Mizoe and Hashimoto finished second behind Behlen and Schneider in 2018, and won gold at the Jinjiang 2-Star in China and Tuan Chau Island 1-Star in Vietnam.

The Czech Republic’s Michala Kvapilova and Michaela Kubickova are seeded third, the highest ranked European side, while Thailand’s Varapatsorn Radarong and Khanittha Hongpak are seeded fourth.

There are three US teams in the top 16. Fifth seeds Carly Wopat and Brittany Hochevar are the highest seeded pair, Caitlin Ledoux and Geena Urango are seeded ninth and Amanda Dowdy and Corinne Quiggle are seeded 15th after being given one of two wild card places.
