14TH ASIAN MEN’S U18 CHAMPIONSHIP IN TEHRAN BURGEONING AS JOINT MEETING HELD AHEAD OF THE OUTSET

Tehran, Iran, August 13, 2022 – The completed preparation tasks have made things clear that the 14th Asian Men’s U18 Volleyball Championship is ready to burst into thrilling actions in Tehran between August 15-22, as Control and local organizers assembled in the meeting room to re-examine relevant activities ahead of the official debut coming Monday.

Control Committee President Dr Mohammad Reza Davarzani, himself President of Islamic Republic of Iran Volleyball Federation, presided over the Joint Meeting at Olympic Hotel and welcomed Control Committee Members, on behalf of AVC President Mrs Rita Subowo.

“We kept the standard of hosting this event the same as the senior one to grant pride and prestige to the age groups to show to everyone how important the age groups are. For promoting volleyball at the senior level, we should have all our first focus on the underage groups”.

Mr Yermek Syrlybayev, Technical Delegate in this top-flight championship, expressed his satisfaction with the hosting of Iran, as he was previously the FIVB Technical Delegate in FIVB Boys’ U19 World Championship last year in Iran and said, “I am assured that Iran is always pioneering in showing quality in hosting both indoor and beach volleyball even at this tough situation of challenging with COVID-19.”

Technical Sub Committee Mr Park Ki Won believed that “discipline” is a key word for this event as this is the basic level and the players should learn professional manners. “All the rules should be correctly implemented as we have to teach the players to respect the rules from this age and all the referees should stick to the rules”.

Before that, all the Control Committee Members and the local organizers made the primary inspection of the training sites as well as the competition venue at the federation hall and hotels.

Eight teams comprising hosts Iran, Kuwait, China, and Chinese Taipei in Pool A and Japan, Korea, Thailand, and India in Pool B, are set to strut their stuff in the eight-day championship, vying for four Asian spots on offer for the 2023 FIVB Volleyball Boys’ U19 World Championship.

Arriving teams are due to register their delegation in the preliminary inquiry on Sunday morning in the meeting room of Espinas Hotel where the teams are residing. General Technical Meeting will not be held to observe the health protocols; instead, teams will receive the required information along with the preliminary inquiry.
