Lausanne, Switzerland, November 13, 2019 – The match schedule has been announced for the 2019 FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship, which will be held in Brazilian city Betim from December 3 to 8.
Two-time Men’s Club World Championship runners-up Cucine Lube Civitanova of Italy will take on Qatari club Al-Rayyan Sports Club in the first match of the tournament on December 3 at 18.00 local time, then former world champions Sada Cruzeiro Volei of Brazil and Zenit Kazan of Russia will relive their rivalry in the opening day’s second match at 20.30.
Sada Cruzeiro and Zenit Kazan have met twice in the finals of the Men’s Club World Championship – in 2015 and 2016 – with the South Americans winning on both occasions. Zenit Kazan earned their first-ever World Championship title the following year, beating Lube Civitanova.
Zenit Kazan will start the second day of action against Al Rayyan, followed by the encounter between Sada Cruzeiro and Lube Civitanova. The third day will begin with an all-European clash between Lube Civitanova and Zenit Kazan, then hosts Sada Cruzeiro will face Al Rayyan.
The teams will have their rest day on December 6 before they start with the semifinals on December 7, featuring the first ranked team against the fourth ranked team in the first match at 14.00 and the second and third ranked teams playing each other at 17.00.
The medal matches will be on December 8 with the bronze medal match at 9.30 and the gold medal match closing the event at 12.30.
