Bangkok, Thailand, March 4, 2021 – The Qatar Volleyball Association, in cooperation with the Katara and under the supervision of FIVB, is organizing the fourth edition of the 4-star Katara Beach Volleyball Cup 2021, volleyball.qa reported on Wednesday.
More than 100 men’s and women’s teams from more than 28 countries have confirmed their participation in the tournament including Brazil, France, Austria, USA, Switzerland, Norway, Belgium, Russia, Italy, Spain, Estonia, Poland, Gambia, Germany, Netherlands, Turkey, Sweden, Denmark. Latvia, Czech Republic, India, Canada, Greece, Japan, Lithuania and hosts Qatar.
The host country will field four teams comprising Qatar 1’s Cherif Younousse/Ahmed Tijan, Qatar 2’s Saif/Ziyad, Qatar 3’s Issam/Abdullah and Qatar 4’s Al-Musalmani/Gusson.
Teams started arriving in Doha and upon their arrivals, those teams entered the Safe bubble allocated to them at the Ezdan Hotel West Bay, as part of their preparations to compete in the tournament, which is a double-gender competition.
The participating teams received warm welcomes upon their arrival at Hamad International Airport, where the medical swab was conducted for the COVID-19 and then went directly to the residence hotel, from which the teams entered the “Safe bubble” until the end of their competition in the World Tour.
The precautionary measures taken by either the Ministry of Public Health or the FIVB will be implemented in accordance with the approved medical protocol, including the obligation to wear masks, sanitise the stadium and balls before holding training and matches in addition to highlighting the application of precaution before entering the stadium and maintaining social distancing.
