Six places at stake as men’s FIVB Road to Paris Volleyball Qualifiers start on Saturday
The Men’s FIVB Road to Paris Volleyball Qualifiers take centre stage from Saturday, September 30 to Sunday, October 8. Six tickets to next year’s Olympic Games are at stake during the nine-day tournament which will be played across three venues in Brazil, China and Japan.
The world’s best 24 men’s national teams will vie for the coveted Paris 2024 slots, split into three pools of eight and taking part in a total of 84 matches.
The three tournaments will be hosted in two continents: Pool A in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Pool B in Tokyo, Japan and Pool C in Xi’an, China. In each pool a single round-robin will be played over seven competition days, with the pool winners and the pool runners-up joining hosts France at the Olympic Games. Each competition day will offer abundant volleyball action with a total of 12 matches on the daily programme.
Pool A
Three-time Olympic Champions Brazil will look to start their campaign on a high when they face Volleyball Challenger Cup (VCC) 2023 runners-up and AVC Asian Championship bronze medalists Qatar in the opening Pool A match in Rio.
In addition to the hosts, reigning world champions, EuroVolley 2023 silver medalists and world number 3 Italy are the other favourites in this pool.

This year’s AVC Asian Championship runners-up and Asian Games champions and world number 11 Iran, NORCECA bronze medalists and world number 12 Cuba, world number 15 Ukraine, world number 16 Germany and world number 20 Czechia complete Pool A.
Pool B
Pool B in Tokyo will be the first to open the action on Saturday, when EuroVolley 2023 bronze medalists and world number 8 Slovenia take on record African champions and world number 18 Tunisia.
NORCECA champions, VNL runners-up and world number 2 the USA and AVC Asian Championship gold medalists, VNL bronze medalists and world number 5 Japan are the top contenders in Pool B.

World number 9 Serbia, VCC 2023 winners and world number 14 Türkiye, newly crowned African champions and world number 19 Egypt, and world number 28 Finland complete Pool B.
Pool C
It will be a North and South America affair when South American champions, Tokyo 2020 bronze medallists and world number 6 Argentina take on world number 21 Mexico in the opening Pool C match in Xi’an, China.
Fresh from winning the EuroVolley and VNL, world silver medalists and world number 1 Poland will also be vying for a spot at Paris 2024 in Pool C.
