MARGO WILTENS APPOINTED TO COACH BEACH VOLLEYROOS

FROM VOLLEYBALL AUSTRALIA
Canberra, Australia, July 20, 2020 – Volleyball Australia is pleased to announce Margo Wiltens re-joining the team as a coach in the National Beach Program.

Margo will be leading the Tokyo Olympic campaigns for the Max Guehrer / Zac Schubert, and Nikki Laird/Becchara Palmer combinations. She will be based at the National Beach Volleyball Training Centre at the South Australian Sports Institute (SASI).

Margo recently held the Head Coach position at the Australian Volleyball Academy (AVA), until the COVID-19 pandemic forced the program into temporarily suspending its centralised operations at the Australian Institute of Sport.

VA CEO Andrew Dee said, “We are fortunate to have Margo’s experience and drive back in the program, her input will be invaluable to our campaign to qualify and prepare for the Games next year”.

Margo has significant experience in international Beach Volleyball, having represented the Netherlands as an athlete from 2004-2011, and as Head Coach for the Dutch National Women’s Beach Volleyball Development program from 2013-2018.

“Aiming for an Olympic qualification is one challenge, and even more so, given the current circumstances”, said Margo on her new appointment.

“Both teams that I am working with have already shown that they have no fear of taking on this challenge. I’m excited to work with not only these athletes, but also the current coaching staff that I will join in Adelaide”.

Margo is currently working with her athletes from Sydney and will be making the move to Adelaide in August.
