ALL WEEK 29 MATCHES OF IRAN MEN’S SUPER LEAGUE END IN DRAMATIC FOUR SETS

Tehran, Iran, February 15, 2021 – Pacesetters Sepahan Foulad went down to Urmia Shahrdari on a day when all Week 29 matches of the Iran Men’s Volleyball Super League ended in dramatic four sets, iranvolleyball.com reported on Monday.

Six matches were held in Week 29 at two competition halls – Volleyball Federation Hall and Volleyball House of Tehran, which saw Urmia Shahrdari, Amol Labaniat Haraz, Gonbad Shahrdari, Ardakan Khatam, Yazd Shahdab and Tehran Saipa perform superbly to claim victories. Kordestan Rahyab Melal and Urmia Azarbatri rested this week.

Sepahan Foulad, which remained atop the standings after Week 28 encounters, suffered a sudden drop following a 1-3 (25-23, 18-25, 18-25, 22-25) loss at the hands of Urmia Shahrdari in a high-anticipated match. The loss was two in a row for Sepahan Foulad as they also went down 1-3 to Sirjan Foulad in Week 28.

Despite the loss, Sepahan Foulad stayed on top of the standings with 21 wins against 4 losses, while the winning side Urmia Shahrdari moved up to replace Sirjan Foulad in the second position with 20 wins against 5 losses.

Sirjan Foulad had been relegated to the third place after going down to Amol Labaniat Haraz 25-22, 16-25, 18-25, 12-25.

Matches in Week 30, the last week of the preliminary phase, will take place on Wednesday, February 17 at both halls.
