Bangkok, Thailand, March 15, 2021 – The qualifying round of the 43rd Amir Volleyball Cup 2020-2021 season is due to be held between March 15 and March 21.
The qualifiers will see teams ranked from fifth to tenth in the Qatar Senior Men’s Volleyball League participate to vie for four slots for the quarter-finals, in which top four teams from the Qatar’s top-flight professional league have already secured their berths.
According to the results of the drawing of lots, Al-Sadd, Al-Gharafah and Al-Rayyan are in Group A, while Group B comprises Al-Shamal, Al-Wakrah and Al-Khor.
All matches will be held behind closed doors at the Qatar Volleyball Association Hall.
The top two teams from each group will qualify for the quarter-finals from March 25 to April 7. Qatar Senior Men’s League champions Police, Al-Ahli, Al-Arabi and Qatar SC, the afore-mentioned top four teams from the league, have already made the cut in that round.
Al-Arabi captured the title in the previous season following their hard-fought 3-2 win over Police in the final showdown.
The Competitions Committee also announced that the His Highness of Amir Volleyball Cup will take place on March 22 at the QVA Meeting Hall, implementing precautionary measures to prevent COVID-19 pandemic.
