The Asian International Referee Candidate Course is now underway in Sultanate of Oman, with 19 candidates from seven countries including three females participating in the eight-day course aimed at increasing the quality of the referees, making them get through to the philosophy of refereeing and mutually providing them valuable experience and training opportunities.
The AIRCC, which started on Wednesday and will run through January 31, is conducted theoretically and practically by FIVB Referee Instructor & FIVB Referee Coach Mr Waleed Abdelsamad from Egypt, himself CAVB Refereeing Commission Member and Technical Secretary of QVA Refereeing Commission.
Dr Tarek Mohamed Aly, Technical Director of Oman Volleyball Association, presided over the opening ceremony of the course on Wednesday, with a number of media persons attending and covering the ceremony.
A total of 19 candidates comprising one Jordanian, two from Kuwait, three each from Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Syria and four from Oman are participating in the course, based on the rules of the games and regulations. By attending the course, the candidates are likely to gain a positive experience, extend their knowledge and understanding in further development programmes they are planing to take part in the near future, and become well-qualified to get promoted to future AVC and FIVB international referees.
