ASOIF GOVERNANCE REVIEW RECOGNISES SIGNIFICANT PROGRESS IN FIVB’S GOOD GOVERNANCE

FIVB moves from group B to the second highest group of A2 after a 25-point increase

The FIVB’s unwavering commitment to ensuring good governance and transparency has been recognised in the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF) Fourth Review of International Federation Governance which was published on 21 June 2022.

The global governing body of volleyball saw an increase of 25 points since the last assessment in 2019-2020, which was substantially higher than the mean increase of 14 points. The FIVB has now moved from group B to A2, the second highest group, which means that it scored between 150-170 points out of a possible 200. Since the initial ASOIF review in 2016-2017, the FIVB’s score has climbed 60 points overall, showcasing its ongoing commitment to implementing the latest and best practices in governance.

FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° said:

“I am delighted that this latest ASOIF governance review has recognised the FIVB’s steadfast commitment to, and progress with, implementing the highest standards of good governance and transparency.

“It is our responsibility to our beloved sports to ensure that integrity is at the heart of everything we do and, as with all things, there is always room for improvement. We will now carefully analyse the results of this review to determine how we can continue to improve the governance of the FIVB.”

The ASOIF review also noted the significant work that has been done by the FIVB across various aspects of governance including its updated Code of Ethics, revisions to the composition of its Board of Administration and the open recruitment for independent positions on committees. Also highlighted were the successful delivery of the first-ever FIVB World Congress in 2021, the FIVB’s provision of support to enhance the governance of its members, and its established risk management programme.

In addition, a number of the FIVB’s governance practices related to its judicial bodies, accounting reports and financial controls, elections and its revolutionary Volleyball Empowerment development programme were featured in a list of good practices highlighted by ASOIF.
