Bangkok, Thailand, September 25, 2020 – Volleyball Australia announced the appointment of Anne Meijnderts to the role of Beach Volleyball Coach at the Australian Volleyball Academy (AVA), VA said in its official website volleyballaustralia.org.au on Friday.
Anne has been performing the role of National Pathways Lead for Strength & Conditioning since her appointment in April and will continue to oversee the delivery of S & C in the AVA program.
Anne is thrilled to be given this exciting opportunity, saying “In the past nine months, I have found the AVA and its unique integrated volleyball set-up an exciting place to work. I look forward to many positive contributions to the development of AVA athletes in my new role as beach coach”.
Anne brings volleyball coaching experience from a number of beach and indoor clubs as well as the National Beach program in the Netherlands.
She leverages her S & C expertise to maximise transfer between work done in the gym and on-court skills with the AVA athletes.
Anne has a strong analytical skillset based on her scientific background, having graduated with a Master of Arts (Hons) at the University of Groningen (The Netherlands). The appointment maintains the integrity of the well-functioning AVA coaching team and builds on established relationships with National Beach Volleyball Team Coaches.
“Anne has been a marvellous addition to our coaching staff at the AVA”, commented National Technical Director Phil Borgeaud on the appointment.“Her bespoke skillset and commitment to the holistic development of young athletes aspiring to perform at the highest level are simply a great fit and will enhance the AVA experience for all of our athletes.”
The primary objective of the Australian Volleyball Academy (AVA) is to identify and develop Olympic potential athletes for Volleyball and Beach Volleyball. It is the High-Performance Development Program for volleyball and beach volleyball athletes who aspire to reach the elite level of their sport.
The AVA headquarters and training base are located at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra.
