Australia will be well represented on the Beach Pro Tour over the coming weeks with a host of players set to feature in tournaments across Europe and Asia.
A number of Developing Volleyroos from both the men’s and women’s programs are in Switzerland this week for the Futures event in Spiez, with six Australian pairs lining up for a shot at glory.
Two more women’s pairs are also in Italy for the Futures tournament in Lecce.
Next week is even bigger, with four Australian teams taking on the Beach Pro Tour Challenge event in Latvia, while seven pairs travel to France for the Futures event in Lille.
Four women’s teams will then contest the Asian Beach Volleyball Championships in China with the month of June rounding out with more Futures events in Greece, Italy and Finland.
Jasmine Fleming and Georgia Johnson have a busy schedule coming up but are looking forward to the challenge, starting their campaign as second seeds this week in Spiez.
“We put in so much time training but the real fun part of this sport is getting out and competing,” said Fleming. “With so many teammates around us it is a really comfortable environment to be in and hopefully that plays out with all of the Aussie teams putting in strong performances over the next few weeks.
“Georgia and I were runners up at the Futures event on the Gold Coast earlier this year so we have high expectations of ourselves but we know we’ve put the hard work in and are ready to go.
“Some solid performances over the next couple of weeks should set us up well for the Asian Championships at the end of the month.”
