Bangkok, Thailand, February 3, 2024 – The AVC Development and Marketing Committee convened at Golden Tulip Sovereign Hotel Bangkok on Friday to review development projects last year and keep the Members updated with the FIVB Volleyball Empowerment and Development Programmes.
Mr Heyzer Harsono from Indonesia, Chairman of the AVC Development and Marketing Committee, chaired the Friday’s meeting, attended by Mr Seong Kee-Hak from Korea (Secretary), Mr Huang Kuo Kuang from Chinese Taipei and Mr Jitendra Bahadur Chand from Nepal on site and Mr Hugh Graham from Cook Islands and Mr Thiti Pluckcha-oom from Thailand on Zoom.
FIVB General Director Mr Fabio Azevedo, FIVB Director in Asia and Oceania Mr Luis Alexandre and Mr Hitesh Malhotra from FIVB Technical and Development Department also joined the meeting to share information on the revolutionary FIVB Empowerment and Development Projects to all Members.
AVC President Mrs Rita Subowo, accompanied by AVC Secretary General Mr Kiattipong Radchatagriengkai, delivered a welcome speech. She thanked all AVC DMC Members for their hard work and excellent cooperation to support AVC activities throughout the past year and encouraged AVC affiliated National Federations to make use of the FIVB Volleyball Empowerment and Development Programmes.
In his opening speech, AVC DMC Chairman Mr Heyzer Harsono said: “I would like to welcome the new member, Mr. Jitendra from Nepal, who has replaced Mr Latheef from Maldives. As per usual, we will get together once a year to make plans for AVC Development Calendar and AVC Marketing Projects.
“I would like to share some information about Volleyball World, our new sponsor. AVC and Volleyball World have entered into a nine-year contract that begin this year for the AVC Senior Championships. As a result, we ought to start planning how we will assist in promoting our age-group championships in the near future. In order to establish a new chapter of the development program in Asia, I would like all Members to share your new idea, vision, knowledge and experience in the meeting.”
After that, the meeting acknowledged the report of the AVC development activities in 2023 related to Coaches and Referee Courses, with a total of 31 FIVB Coaches Courses being held last year and four courses organized by AVC.
It was mentioned that Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) had earlier requested to postpone the AVC International Volleyball and Beach Volleyball Referee Candidate Course from 2023 to be held in 2024. However, AVC had already informed CAVA that the budget for development plan must be cut off every year so they could not postpone.
The AVC Development Plan for 2024 was also raised for further discussion. As AVC will continue its full support to all affiliated National Federations in conducting courses and seminars in order to develop their skills and improve their volleyball and beach volleyball knowledge in each zone, the AVC Development and Marketing Committee must propose these courses to AVC Board of Administration for approval, while the Referee Courses will be first taken into consideration by the AVC Referees Committee.
The meeting also reviewed the FIVB Empowerment Projects in 2023, adding that any National Federations interested to get the support from FIVB can contact FIVB and submit projects year-round online by themselves.
