BRAZIL SEAL 11TH VICTORY AT 2021 VNL AFTER 3-0 DEMOLITION OF KOREA

Mighty Brazil captured a scintillating three-set victory against Korea at the 2021 FIVB Women’s Volleyball Nations League in Rimini, Italy on Friday, claiming their 11th victory in the top-tier competition.

Brazil faced no issues in shutting out the Asian side in straight sets 25-18, 25-23, 25-18, grabbing aggregate 34 points from 11 wins against 2 losses to remain at the second place at the 16-team standings. The win has also guaranteed Brazil the ticket to the semi-finals of the top-flight competition.

Tandara Caixeta and Fernanda Rodrigues scored 13 points apiece on Brazil’s winning efforts, while Kim Yeon Koung led 17 points for Korea and Jeong Jiyun added 13.

Korea’s Yeum Hye Seon said at the virtual Mixed Zone: “Brazil are a strong team, but we were trying to fight and not fall down easily. We tried to do our best in defence. Since they are a good team, they were also digging well. But we also showed good volleyball. When we were trying to catch up, our second touch was not perfect. Ahead of us are the last two games and we will do our best to gain more wins.”

Brazil’s Fe Garay said: It was a tough match. I feel that every day is like a final game, because more than ever we are fighting for the best possible ranking. So every day is a final day for us. We still have to keep the rhythm until the end, because our goal is to be in the final. We had to play without any mistakes today. It’s important especially when you play against an Asian team, so the key was to fight for every ball and impose our rhythm on the game.
