CHINA CLAIM 11TH VNL WIN AFTER 3-0 ROUT OF BULGARIA

Ningbo, China, June 19, 2019 – Indomitable China captured another straight-set win as the Rio Olympic gold medallists and world No.2 powered past Bulgaria 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-16) in their second match of the 2019 FIVB Volleyball Nations League Week 5 at Beilun Sports and Arts Centre here on Wednesday.

Super star Zhu Ting chipped in with a match-high 15 points for the host side, while Yuan Xinyue added 10. Silvana Chausheva led Bulgaria with 13 points.

After the match, China had 32 points from 11 wins against 3 losses, while Bulgaria dropped to 2-12 to maintain their 15th position in the 16-team standing.

Bulgaria Captain Gergana Dimitrova: “Congratulations to China. They played very, very well. We had our chances but we did not take them. So we will keep practicing and try to be better.”

China player Zhang Changning: “I am happy to win. Team Bulgaria also did a good job tonight. We hope that we can do better in the coming matches.”

Bulgaria Coach Ivan Petko: “Congratulations to the host team. They played really good volleyball. As for our team, it is a good chance for us to play with one of the best teams in the world.”

China Coach Lang Ping: “We had once encountered with team Bulgaria in the World Championship. Their combination and defense gave me a deep impression. To cope with their strong defense, we have made certain preparations before the match today. In fact, I am also encouraging my players to do better in defense and to learn from our opponents. Overall, I am quite satisfied with our job in blocking today.”
