Nakhon Pathom, Thailand, June 9, 2022 – Dominant Chinese Taipei pulled off a straight-set 25-20, 25-17, 25-8 victory against Philippines at the 14th Asian Women’s U18 Volleyball Championship at Nakhon Pathom Sports Center Gymnasium on Thursday.

Chinese Taipei, which finished fifth in the previous edition in Nakhon Pathom in 2018, overcame a strong challenge from Philippines in the opening set, making use of devastating attacks from Chen Ssy-ye to take the set 25-20.

As Chen Ssy-ye and Lu Chian-wen joined forces in puncturing the rivals’ defence, Chinese Taipei turned the tide to take the competitive set 25-17 for a 2-0 advantage. Though challenged seriously by the spirited Filipinas, Chinese Taipei intensified their defence and bounced back mightily for a comfortable 25-8 win in the third set.

On Saturday, Philippines will be pitted against Japan, while Chinese Taipei take on India in their last preliminary matches.

“We lost two games in a row. Therefore, the today’s victory returned the positive mentality to the team. Winning or losing, the players have gained some lessons during this competition.
