Bangkok, Thailand, November 3, 2020 – Volleyball Australia is proud to announce that Craig Marshall has been appointed as its National High-Performance Director, VA reported on volleyballaustralia.org.au on Tuesday.

“Following a recruitment process that attracted a quality field of applicants with a wide variety of backgrounds from Australia and overseas, I am pleased to announce that we have appointed Craig ‘Frog’ Marshall to the position of Volleyball Australia’s new National Performance Director,” said Andrew Dee, CEO of Volleyball Australia.

Craig brings with him an impressive depth of coaching experience as an international beach volleyball coach at four Olympic Games, ten World Championships and on the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour for 19 consecutive years. He has also been an Assistant Coach with the Australian Men’s Indoor Volleyroos since 2017.

Craig’s current role is as Head Coach of VA’s Queensland Academy of Sport’s (QAS) very successful development program.

“I am honoured and excited about the prospect of operating in the National Performance Director’s role. The world has changed due to COVID-19 and I am looking forward to help navigate our sport and, in particular, our national programs towards a successful climb in the international sports domain,” said Craig on his new role.

“I have been privileged to be a part of our national programs for over two decades, and coupled with my current experience in our domestic volleyball development pathway, I look forward to using the knowledge, abilities and skills gained through these endeavours to advance our sport. This is a new role in our sport for me and I’ve never been better prepared to take on a job of such magnitude”, reflected Marshall on his many years of coaching experience.

Craig’s coaching expertise has contributed directly to podium placings achieved by Australian men’s and women’s teams on the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour, including the only medal won by an Australian men’s volleyball team at any World Championship – Beach or Indoor.
Craig will begin his new role on 17 November. His immediate priority is to lead the Tokyo Olympic campaign for the women’s and the men’s Beach Volleyroos, as well as working on appointing a Head Coach for the men’s Indoor Volleyroos.

Volleyball Australia CEO, Andrew Dee says, “As we prepare for the Tokyo Olympic Games and look to our future aspirations in Birmingham, Paris and beyond in Brisbane in 2032, it’s an exciting time to have your hands on the wheel. Craig’s technical beach volleyball and volleyball expertise is unparalleled and will be vital in our quest for success on the courts of the world”.

An expressions of interest process for the soon to be vacant Head Coach role at QAS will be advertised shortly.
